Despite KL Rahul’s twin golden ducks at the Wankhede Stadium this season, he is our captain for this game considering his superb record against Mumbai. In his last ten outings against Mumbai, he has scored 635 runs at a brilliant average of 127 and a strike rate of 138.65. Also, he is the leading run-scorer for his side this season with 265 runs in seven outings at a strike rate of 141.71.
Vice-captain: Suryakumar Yadav
Although Mumbai are enduring a rough season, the only player who has been delivering for them on a consistent basis is Suryakumar Yadav. He has 232 runs in five outings at an average of 58 and a strike rate of 153.64. Mumbai will get to play in their home venue for the first time this season, where he has scored 320 runs in his last ten IPL outings at an average of 35.56 and a strike rate of 141.59.
Quinton de Kock: The South African wicketkeeper-batter started the tournament with a couple of big knocks – 80(52) and 61(45) – but has gone a bit quiet in the recent games. He has scored 215 runs in seven outings at an average of 30.71 this season
Tilak Varma: In his debut IPL season, Tilak Varma has exceeded expectations with some good knocks. To top the run charts for a side like Mumbai with superstar batters around him is no small feat – he has scored 234 runs in seven games at an average of 46.80 and a strike rate of 140.11. He has scored more runs against spin than any other player this season – 127 runs at a strike rate of 149.41 and just one dismissal.
Dewald Brevis: Another youngster who has set the tournament on fire is Dewald Brevis. His knocks of 31(13) against Super Giants and 49(25) against Punjab Kings show his class. In the middle overs, he has scored 57 runs at a strike rate of 178.12
Dushmantha Chameera: The tall quick from Sri Lanka has been in good form since the start of the year in T20s picking up 14 wickets in 13 innings. He has triumphed over Rohit Sharma in T20I’s getting him out six times in nine innings conceding just 32 runs in 30 balls.
